Why Our Seeds?
- Organically Grown & Hand-Harvested: Carefully cultivated in small batches.
- Germination-Tested: Reliable, vigorous seeds you can count on.
- Easy & Adaptable: A favorite for beginners and seasoned growers alike.
Blooms & Form
Tropaeolum majus features rounded, lily-pad leaves and vivid blooms in shades of orange, red, yellow, and coral. Plants can grow in a compact mound or trail freely, making them perfect for borders, raised beds, containers, and edges where they can spill and wander a bit.
In our own garden, nasturtiums often reseed themselves and show up where you least expect them - threading through zinnias, softening bed edges, and tumbling casually over raised beds. Left to do their thing, they create a relaxed, layered look that feels alive rather than overly planned.
Both the flowers and leaves are edible, with a fresh, peppery flavor that adds color and bite to salads, toast, and summer dishes.
How to Grow
- When to Plant: Direct sow after your last frost, or once soil can be worked. Nasturtiums are cool-tolerant and handle chilly nights well, though hard frost will damage young plants.
- Where to Plant: Full sun to part shade in well-draining soil. Average or even poor soil encourages better flowering.
- Planting Tips: Sow seeds ½–1 inch deep. Water at planting and keep soil lightly moist until germination. Nasturtiums prefer direct sowing and don’t love being transplanted.
- Care Tips: Water moderately. Once established, they are fairly drought tolerant and require little attention. Deadheading is optional - they bloom generously either way.
Loose, generous, and quietly hardworking, nasturtiums bring color, movement, and a sense of ease to the garden especially when you let them wander.
